Meet Sam Goddard Co-director of Cambium Sustainable

Cambium Sustainable has been delivering outdoor education training for over 20 years and was one of the first Forest School Training organisations established in the UK. Their courses offer progression from level 1 to level 4, and they facilitate the UK’s most connected and progressive network of Forest School and Outdoor Learning Training Providers.

In 2018 Sam Goddard joined Cambium as Director leading the team in the delivery of high-quality Forest School Training, Curriculum Based Outdoor Learning Training, Coastal School Training and more. Sam’s background is as a Forest School practitioner, trainer, speaker, and consultant specialising in quality, accredited development work. He says his entire career has been an extension of playing in the countryside near his childhood home. Sam’s mission is to connect all people with the natural world around them and give them opportunities to thrive in this environment, developing the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive. He loves ideas and new ways of looking at problems and is committed to moving Forest School and Nature-Based Learning forward in new and exciting ways.

Sam says Cambium’s vision is for a professional community of practice that is empowered to create meaningful change, both in the learners they work with and ultimately in the wider communities they serve. Therefore, their purpose is to help develop eco-literate young people with an emotional connection to and respect for nature through quality training, resources, networking, and support. Sam believes that every child and young person has the right to quality outdoor experiences and works hard to make this a reality. He can often be found in the woods or at the river with his Granddaughter who he cares for and he loves long walks in the bracing Autumn air.
